Salget af alkohol er nu forbudt i alle barer og restauranter i House of Commons. Forbudet er indført, efter London har skærpet foranstaltningerne for at kontrollere coronavirussen. Det skriver Sky News.

Lindsay Hoyle, der er speaker i Underhuset, siger, at forbuddet vil gælde, selv om der fortsat serveres mad.

Forbuddet kommer, efter sundhedsminister Matt Hancock fortalte, at London vil være placeret som »gruppe 2« af de tre grupper, som kampen mod smitten med coronavirussen er inddelt i. Det indebærer blandt andet et forbud mod, at folk fra forskellige husholdninger samles.

Under gruppe 2 er barer og restaurationer dog stadig åbne ude i Londons gader.

Kun byen Liverpool er placeret under gruppe 3. Der er forudsætningen for åbne barer, at der serveres mad.

Ifølge Lindsay Hoyle er det som følge af regeringens beslutning om at placere London i gruppe 2, at han har bedt om at tørlægge parlamentet.

»Da medlemmerne af parlamentet repræsenterer alle egne af landet – med den højeste i gruppe 3, som forbyder barerne at holde åbent – har jeg besluttet, at salget af alkohol skal stoppe i parlamentet fra lørdag.«

»Det bliver ikke muligt at købe alkohol, om der så serveres mad eller ej.«
