All too often I hear or see people being criticized for their bodies. By their friends, their family, by strangers. I'm still trying to understand why people are so concerned with how other people look, whether they are too skinny, too fit, too fat, too...anything. If people were to relax and back off other people's bodies, I wonder how many women would love themselves more, would value themselves and their health more, would not turn to food for comfort. I could be wrong, but I feel like if people backed off criticizing others, as a society and as individuals we would be much happier and healthier. There is so much pressure to be this and be that, that it can push people to one extreme or the other and I wish people were comfortable enough to just BE and work on loving themselves without feeling like everyone around them is watching, waiting for the opportunity to comment on how different they look, on either side of the weight spectrum. I have even had people tell me they are worried I am getting "too" healthy. What?? I don't think people will ever stop having a genuine concern for their loved ones and that's ok, but as a society we need to teach people that it's ok to love ourselves, so people can do just that...love themselves, be happy, and allow themselves to reflect on their lifestyle as an individual to be able to say, "I'm not valuing myself in the way I deserve. I should be treating my body better so I can feel energized and happy each and every day." Not because someone else tells you to, but because you want to. #fitbodyguide www.annavictoria.com/guides
There are two reasons I want to share this with you ladies: one reason is because I want you to know having skin fold over on your stomach when you sit or to have "rolls" is not anything to hate or be ashamed of. The other reason is because while I say this, there have been times where if I ever found myself in front of a mirror where I am sitting and I see my stomach, I automatically think "ew!" because this is what society has conditioned me to think. Your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be healthy, your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat for you to love yourself, and your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be confident and beautiful and an all around amazing person. As a society, we shouldn't let physical characteristics set the standard for whether we deserve to love ourselves or not. Everyone deserves to love themselves, however I know that's easier said than done. What's amazing to me and what I have witnessed with the fbg girls is most of the time they start learning to love themselves more on their journey not because of the physical changes, but because of the mental and emotional changes that come from dedicating yourself, pushing yourself, and seeing just how strong you really are. (what we call "non-physical progress" and is just as, if not more important than physical progress). That type of strength and beauty can only be seen and felt from within. #fbggirls www.annavictoria.com/guides
Have you ever felt like you needed to take two steps back to take one step forward? Don't look at those two steps back as failure or a reason to give up. Sometimes we need to take those steps back to look at the bigger picture, to dig deep down, figure out what we really want, and ultimately to push yourself more than you ever thought possible. Ups and downs are a part of the process! You haven't failed until you quit trying, and no matter how much time has passed since you last tried, you can always try again. Never in a million years did I think I would be here today. I used to be that person made fun of other girls who ate healthy or ordered a salad. I was that person who rolled their eyes at someone who talked about going to the gym. I didn't "get it", and I judged. I will be the first to admit it, I'm not proud of it and it's embarrassing to even say, but I have learned and grown so much since then. What got me to where I am today was the willingness to be open-minded, to trust the process and to try new things. That is when my world truly changed and I started learning and opening my eyes to so many things even outside the world of health and fitness. I've always been fairly optimistic but going through this journey showed me just how powerful optimism and self-belief really are. Step 1: believe in yourself. Step 2: Trust the process no matter how many bumps you hit in the road. I promise you will get to where you're going #fitbodyguide www.annavictoria.com/guides
Diet vs. Lifestyle The difference between making this a diet or a lifestyle is what you do when you "mess up". If it's a diet, you'll throw in the towel and give up after one mistake. If it's a lifestyle, you realize that you aren't perfect and you simply do better at the next meal or next workout. The difference is really that simple. #fitbodyguide www.annavictoria.com/guides
